The Lee Jones Quartet
Guitarist Lee Jones makes a welcome return to these shores and to the Bonded Warehouse with his excellent Wes Montgomery project. A jazz guitarist and composer, Lee combines influences from modern jazz, fusion, blues, avant-garde, and rock styles. He has regularly performed throughout the UK scene and recorded/performed/studied alongside Larry Coryell, Martin Taylor, and Mike Stern.
Since graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Course in 2007, Lee has released seven solo albums with former WEA producer Simon Tittley. In 2019, he completed a PhD in music composition at the University of Salford, Manchester, and he has recently returned from a successful tour of Australia.
Tonight Lee will be bringing together a very special quartet in honour of two of the leading giants of jazz guitar – Wes Montgomery and Barney Kessel, whose centenary falls in 2023. They will be performing a range of diverse repertoire from classic albums including 'Boss Guitar', 'Smokin' at the Halfnote' and 'Jellybeans' with a soulful, blues-inflected passion.
Alongside Lee will be A-listers Tom Clarke-Hill on double bass, Neil Bullock on drums, and Al Gurr on keyboards. This band will be taking it to the limit.
